Counselling
The IZRD works in the fields of extremism prevention and democracy promotion on the basis of pedagogical, systemic and gestalt therapy expertise. With our knowledge, we support all types of citizens, political actors, other civil society institutions and authorities, as well as people seeking advice and support in distancing processes, in dealing with phenomena of group-focused enmity. Our focus is on the context of religiously based and transnational forms of extremism (e.g. Turkish ultranationalism) and conspiracy theories.
It is particularly important to us to counsel relatives who observe radicalisation processes of family members, friends or colleagues in their environment. Not only do we see a particular need for support in order to alleviate the suffering of those affected, but we also see relatives and loved ones as a great resource for supporting the process of distancing and disengagement. At our counselling center veritas, we therefore offer targeted advice and support services in cases of uncertainty when dealing with those affected by conspiracy narratives. We also support professionals in dealing with radicalisation processes. We offer special expertise on issues relating to developmental challenges and risks to child welfare in connection with radicalisation processes and extremism.
