Interdisciplinary Centre for the Prevention of Radicalisation and Promotion of Democracy (IZRD e.V.)
The Interdisciplinary Centre for the Prevention of Radicalisation and Promotion of Democracy (IZRD e.V.) was founded in July 2022 as a non-profit association by dedicated individuals from the fields of civil society-based radicalisation prevention, political education, security agencies, academia, and business. Our main fields of work are the prevention of religiously motivated extremism, transnational forms of extremism, conspiracy narratives, and other forms of group-focused enmity. In doing so, it is essential to recognise the powerful impact of structural racism and other forms of inequality and to consciously reflect on them within our own perspectives, attitudes, and work, in order to make a contribution to anti-racist efforts. Additionally, we are engaged in the broader context of promoting democracy and advocate for a tolerant coexistence based on the free democratic order.
The starting point of our work is a humanistic worldview, which trusts that individuals can approach change processes in life through their own resources, strengths, and abilities. Thus, the responsibility for one’s own actions lies with the individual. From our perspective, this also includes the obligation to become aware of one’s actions and to take responsibility for any harm caused to others. These core beliefs are also reflected in our project work.
Furthermore, we consider interdisciplinarity and teamwork in the field of radicalisation prevention to be one of our greatest resources and assets. We are firmly convinced that societal and individual radicalisation processes can only be prevented together – which is why interdisciplinarity and team orientation are central resources in our work.
If you would like to support our association, work and collaborate with us, or become a member, we would be delighted to hear from you.
